Comeback Medvedev Wins Maiden Trophy in Nearly 30 Months
19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former trainer Cervara.
Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents the player's first championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after spring of that year.
Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive approach and regular outbursts on court had led some to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.
However the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an better serving game.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players traded break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.
He saved four early-game chances in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner earned the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
